Routine Cards for Kids

Routines are King in a household with kids!
If you have not gotten down a good routine in your house – whether it’s in the morning, afternoon or bedtime, these free Routine Cards are exactly what you need to get started.
why routines are a must for kids
If you are not quite sold on starting some routines for your kids, these reasons will push you over the fence!
- Routines create good habits and grow independence.
- Repetition is good for executive functioning and planning – it helps things sink in!
- Routines create pockets of calm. Kids love routines because they know exactly what to do and what is expected of them.
- There will be less whining and nagging…the routine “is just what our family does in the morning, (afternoon or evening)”.

Remembering the steps
The trick is getting your kids to remember all the steps of a routine. We know kids often struggle to remember things, especially multiple steps. These cards will make that easy!
Simple print out the cards and write a few steps of your routine onto the cards to help your kids remember all the parts of the routine. Ask your kiddo and consult the big list of morning, after school and evening routine ideas, if you need some extra help.
Remember, it takes a few weeks to solidify a routine, but don’t be afraid to add or subtract a step or two to make things run smoother. For younger (or resistant) kids, you may want to start with 3 steps

Display in a place they will be seen
These routine cards are so versatile, they are small enough to be carried around, if needed. You can frame them up or place them in a restaurant clip, like we do!
We laminated ours so they’ll stay nice, for awhile. You can also laminate them blank and simply write the steps of a routine with a dry erase marker.
If you still have not downloaded the routine cards, yet – do so right here!

Remember do what works best for YOUR kids and family
These routine cards can be customized to fit your needs. Have your kids color them in, make a different routine for school days and for weekends, start with just one time of the day and create a routine.
